The purpose of the YMCA financial assistance program is to provide opportunities for families and individuals, who, for one reason or another are unable to pay full program fees. Assistance can be awarded for portions of the cost of the program, depending on the information given by the participant. YMCA volunteers raise funds every year to help provide assistance for our financial aid program. However, there is a limited amount of assistance available and each program has a set amount set aside for the YMCA to award. Your help is needed for us to evaluate the rate we can set.
1. Applicant must live or work in the YMCA service area.
2. Assistance is granted based on financial need resulting from low income or unusual circumstances (i.e. hospital expenses). Applicants are asked to pay for a portion of the fees, based on a sliding scale.
3. Financial assistance can be granted for one session of a program or for up to one year's membership.
4. Financial aid for child care and/or summer camp is awarded based on the needs of working parents. We may ask that you fill out a form for alternative state funding. In completing this application, please:
Complete the entire application. Answer all questions fully.
Provide the following documentation:
a) Proof of income for all members of the household (paystubs & income tax statement).
b) Further documentation, as requested by the YMCA.
Turn in the application to the YMCA. Please make sure it is filled out completely. Incomplete applications will be returned and will delay the evaluation process.
Applications take approximately one to two weeks to be evaluated. We will notify you in writing of the final evaluation of your application. Certain program awards (ex. camps, child care) can be held for a two week period only, due to community need. Please make sure you call to confirm your enrollment in these programs before the waiting period has expired. This application will be kept for one year. If your financial situation changes within the year allotted, you are responsible for bringing in any new information for reevaluation. Financial Assistance is based on household net income and household size. We may require documentation of your bills. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Louise Soucy at 288-3511, ext. 102, or finance@mdiymca.org.
We look forward to serving you.
